I had a weird time at Hans Breder’s Retrospective (1964-Present) at White Box Gallery. I saw photos of naked people, videos being projected onto sandboxes, robot voices, lots of mod-like black and white stripes, a faulty projector machine, and a Plexiglas cube.

Well Hello there!
You may be shocked to know that I have another art exhibition review coming down the tubes. This time it’s Ridley Howard’s new exhibit at Leo Koenig Gallery. Ridley Howard’s paintings first revealed themselves to me at the now-legendary Conceptual Figures show last year.

Ridley Howard paints enigmatic and pristinely executed portraits. Other words to describe his work are mysterious! mundane! romantic? concealment! smooth! His portrayals of people doing stuff or spacily not doing stuff are becoming more holistic in unique style and vision.

A link to this article is available in the Articles section.

If you haven’t been to this site in a bit, I urge you to read my recent interview with Anders Oinonen on Whitehot Magazine. His vibrant paintings link the details of physical construction with the temperatures of inner feeling.

Greetings friends.

I’ve been in communication with Anders Oinonen, an artist from Toronto whose artwork I’ve been appreciating as of late.

Anders kindly granted me an interview, in which I asked him nearly 30 questions about his artistic inspiration and process. It will be available on the art journalism mainstay, Whitehot Magazine, shortly. The interview promises to be an enriching read, as Anders is an interesting guy and makes exciting paintings.

I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for promising new exhibitions in NYC to cover, with underwhelming results. I think the aforementioned artist’s work is fresher than anything I’ve seen in the city lately, so I recommend you go to Anders Oinonen’s website and get acquainted with his work to prepare for the interview.

I decided to organize all my writing pieces into one place: this site. It’s level of necessity is to be determined.

If I’m feeling saucy, I may start writing more casual things about art in this blog. However, I have a long history of creating blogs that fall into disrepair. The main focus on this site will be the articles.

White Hot Magazine has just published my piece on Andrew Guenther’s show Looking for Culture Part III: Back to My Old Ways. It can be found in the Articles section.

I’ve also written a piece on R. H. Quaytman’s current show at Miguel Abreu Gallery.
It will be online soon.
